Margaret Cross

I started painting when I retired in 2013. Being a physicist, I had never had the free expression of artistic people and my initial aim was to be able to reproduce what I saw.

I have always attended art classes, at first to learn the skills and more recently for guidance and improvement.

As many new would be artists, I started with watercolour which I found difficult,  both in mastering the techniques and in getting onto paper what I had in my mind's eye and I always seemed to make mistakes!

Moving onto acrylics has enabled me to paint much more freely. Building up a picture and changing it until it is how I want it to be - or as close as I can get - is satisfying.

I paint from the heart, pictures always mean something special to me. It would be hard to sell one.
